Mothers Rise Up
Tenbury Wells, a picturesque medieval town in central England, was once a sought-after place to live. Now, after a series of devastating floods, it has been ominously labelled the ‘UK's first uninhabitable town’. Not because life there is impossible, but because homes, businesses and even the town hall are now uninsurable.
Across Britain and the world, the insurance industry is rapidly abandoning communities vulnerable to climate-driven disasters. Yet, this same sector profits immensely from supporting the new coal, oil, and gas projects that fuel the very climate change driving people from their homes.
Our documentary film explores the profound yet underestimated impact the insurance industry has on our daily lives, our communities, and the future of our planet. Through the heartbreaking lens of this small English town, we witness the devastating human cost of a broken financial system, the fierce power and resilience of community, and the urgent race to secure our collective future before the waters rise for good.
